About Us
Mrs. Cory
Hello, I am Mrs. Cory. I love teaching and I am happy to begin my 9th year at Westgate. First grade was my favorite year in school, which makes teaching this grade very special to me. I went to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and studied psychology. After I graduated I worked at a non-profit organization for five years where I spent time working in schools. I loved working in the classroom and decided to return to school to become a teacher. I attended graduate school at National Louis University in Chicago. I have a four year old daughter named Lila and a one year old daughter named Lucy. My family also has two dogs named Abbie and Chloe. I grew up in Brookfield near the zoo, which probably has played a role in my love of animals. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time outdoors and outings with my family.

Mrs. Malley
Hello, I am Mrs. Malley. I am excited to start my 9th school year at Westgate. This is my 13th year teaching. I have taught special education in the primary grades in Chicago and Skokie prior to coming to District 25. I received my Bachelors in Special Education from Illinois State University and my Masters in Curriculum & Instruction with ESL endorsement from Concordia University.
I grew up in Buffalo Grove/Arlington Heights area. I live in Arlington Heights with my husband and two year old daughter named Francesca and one year old son Forrest. I have a 8 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback dog named Rummie. I enjoy running in my free time and have run four marathons.
Our Classroom

Our goal is to create a classroom community where all students are comfortable and have a sense of belonging.  We want students to feel that all teachers and staff are available to them and are invested in their social, emotional and academic needs.  As a teaching team, subjects and lessons we will collaborate, co-plan and co-teach on are:

·       Classroom routines and activities
·       Special activities
·       Writing
·       Science and social studies units

During the school day we will utilize two rooms and provide whole group and small group activities in both settings.  We want all of the students to feel familiar and comfortable in both rooms.

During reading and math lessons Mrs. Cory will be instructing students in the general education curriculums, used in all first grade classrooms, in room 177.  Mrs. Malley will be teaching in a smaller group setting in room 181. However, there will be times that the teachers will co-teach enrichment games, and special activities in reading or math.
